The existence of different institutions with different legal regimes linked to the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, enables the ministry and the recipients of its activity to better interact, whether public or private.
In this area, we highlight the following entities:
CDTI Public Business Entity (Centre for Technological and Industrial Development), which contributes to the improvement of the technological standard of Spanish companies.
Foundations in the R&D&i area, belonging to both the public and private sectors, configured as key elements in the interrelation between R&D&i supply and demand in the Spanish science, technology and business system.
Research promotion organisations and agencies, such as public administration subsidiaries, constitute instruments for carrying out promotion activities.
On the other hand, the DDI (State Entity for Design and Innovation Development) was an entity linked to the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness. Its purpose was to set up public policies for the promotion and dissemination of design and innovation. In September 2010 this entity was merged with ENISA (Empresa Nacional de Innovación, S.A.), a subsidiary entity of the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism
